Prof. Philip KIM - Harvad University, USA, con la seguente motivazione: “Per i suoi esperimenti pioneristici sul trasporto quantistico nei nanotubi di carbonio e nel grafene che hanno aperto nuove prospettive nello studio delle proprietà fisiche dei materiali su scala nanometrica. Philip Kim propose l'interpretazione dell'effetto Hall quantistico in un singolo strato di grafene contemporaneamente ad André Geim e K. Novoselov, che ottennero il Nobel nel 2010 ed è oggi, nel mondo, uno degli scienziati guida nella ricerca di materiali bidimensionali, eterostrutture di van der Walls e architetture atomiche alla nanoscala. 

For his pioneering experiments on quantum transport in carbon nanotubes and graphene which opened new perspectives in the study of physical properties of materials at the nanoscale. Philip Kim is a world leading scientist in the research on nanoscale materials, 2D single layers, van der Walls heterostructures and low dimensional architectures and provided the groundbreaking observation of the quantum Hall effect in single layer graphene, contemporary to the results obtained by the 2010 Nobel prize winners A. Geim and K. Novoselov”.

Prof. Scott AARONSON- University of Texas – Austin- USA con la seguente  motivazione: “Per aver fortemente contribuito a definire i limiti fondamentali della computazione quantistica con numerosi lavori pionieristici a cavallo fra la complessità computazionale e la meccanica quantistica.For his strong contribution to define the fundamental limits of quantum computation with a number of pioneering works at the frontier of computational complexity and quantum mechanics”.
